San Francisco—

a year on. i share below a diary entry from last year when my system was shaken to its core, but i can’t say i didn’t have it coming. i write this slightly hungover after a fun night with vik, cherry, and a few new friends. in usual fashion, i danced a lot - we went to butter. listened to city of the sun to round off the night.

Personal journal entry from October 10–11, 2025, with portions redacted.

i remember the day after it all went down, i had planned to host a picnic at the panhandle. i had the partiful on for a few weeks, so i didn’t want to cancel it. it was funny timing, perhaps a blessing in disguise even. i’m a tryhard when it comes to hosting, so naturally, i went all out at trader joe’s and prepped some baked tofu mini-sandwiches. truth be told, those sandwiches were for myself - i had piloted them at an earlier picnic, but most were too shy to try them (“oh no, are you sure, i don’t wanna take your food” … bitch it’s there to be taken).

shady (mo) showed up first and he was the only person amongst the invitees who i thought might have the remotest idea that i was not ok. we caught up for a bit, dabbled with the slackline, and shared some chai. no doubt, the picnic was fun and full of laughs, and i needed it badly. i also remember vik talking obsessively about chemicals and perfumery, and bani was the only person interested in listening to him. everyone else was focused on my sandwiches (fuck!) - bani is gluten free, so i guess it makes sense. vik is a special one btw - i have known him for 12 yrs now and it’s endearing just how much he knows about so many different things.

i’ve spent the better part of the last year drilling into my brain that i owe it to myself to at least try to go for everything i’ve ever dreamed of. thank you papa for believing in me more than i can ever believe in myself. to that end, i’d like to write about my axioms of life, but for today, this will have to do.
